Newmarket Stingrays Break Hoedown Record!

January 29th, 2008 | Stringray Webmaster | Stingray News

STINGRAYS MAKE HOEDOWN HISTORY and RAISE $50,114.00!

Yee-haw! Thanks to an extraordinary team effort the Newmarket Stingrays made

Hoedown history as the first organization, ever, to be selected as a beneficiary 3 years in

a row. That’s right – thanks to your support the Stingrays will benefit from Hoedown

fundraising both this year and next!

The Stingrays handily won the title of 2007 Hoedown’s Top Charity!!

We exceeded our Raffle Ticket commitment by selling:

• 3,285 tickets – the most raffle tickets in the history of Hoedown! Thanks to the

following families for selling more than 1 book of tickets: Burlton (10), Eldridge

& Puusaari (6), Huisman & Sing (4), Al-Jbouri, Feltham, McGill, Nevala, Oliver,

Ozturk (3), Brearton,Chalmers, Kilty, Kingston, Michailidis, Leith-Robinson (2)

and Altman-Watson, Barrack, Bennett, Buchanan, Coombs, Coward, Iaboni,

Lansing, Pelosi, Rehdner-Warzek, Scherzinger, Seeman, White, and Wikant

(1)…FANTASTIC JOB EVERYONE!!!

• 240 tickets – the most sold at the Hoedown itself. Way to go Mari-Lynn Wikant -

you beat out 25 other sellers to win these accolades!

In addition to a gold-medal winning performance on the raffle tickets, Stingrays

dominated the other organizations by:

• exceeding our silent auction criteria thanks to generous donations by the

following 16 families: Anderson (Cully), Burdon, Burlton, Chalmers, Chisamore-

Johnston, Coenen, Fleury, Kilty, Kingston, McGowan, Scherzinger, Seeman,

Sloan, Stitz, Wikant and Aqua Park…THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

• selling double the number of event tickets required

• meeting our volunteer criteria for the evening; and

• sending a fabulous team of swimmers to clean-up the next day!

Proceeds from the September 2007 Hoedown will be used to cover the costs of the new

electronic timing system not covered by last year’s event (about $15,000) with the

remaining funds used to keep fee increases to a minimum by offsetting the costs of

additional pool time.

A special thank you and congratulations to Fundraising Director Ann Marie Burlton and

her hardworking Committee:

Mari-Lynn Wikant – silent auction and raffle

Phil Brearton – posters

Mario Iaboni – raffle reconciliation

Teresa White – volunteer check

THANK YOU TO THE MEMBERSHIP FOR MAKING THIS EVENT SUCH A

SUCCESS, WE HAVE MADE OUR NAME WELL KNOWN IN THE COMMUNITY!!

BE PREPARED FOR 2008, INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE BY JUNE 2008!
