January Swimmers of the Month
National Senior and Senior
Lindsay Seemann
Lindsay Seemann was the NS & SR swimmer of the month for January.
Lindsay has been to 98% of the workouts this season from September through January.
As one of Canada’s best young swimmers Lindsay was one of 32 swimmers selected from across Canada to travel to Europe this January to compete in two long course meets. The first one was from January 18th to 20th in Geneva, Switzerland and the second one was on the following weekend in Luxembourg. At both meets she swam in
the 15 to 16 age group.
In Geneva, Switzerland she won three events and came second in another two. In Luxembourg, she won five events and came second in another one. Her best swims came in the 800 Free (8:49.69), the 400 Free (4:18.73), the 200 Back (2:15.75) and the 200 IM (2:20.06).
At the conclusion of the trip the Canadian coaching staff chose her as the top ambassador on the team. It was based on both her great performances and the outstanding way she conducted herself.
We should all be very proud that Lindsay is a member of the Stingrays.

Marcel Bernard
Marcel’s attendance for the month was 96%, and since the beginning
of the season he has maintained 98%.
At the A-B meet he had some great swims. I am especially thinking
of the 800 freestyle where he improved his time by 37 seconds and
qualified for Junior Provincials.
His workout performance has been very good the entire season.
Every workout you can see he is trying to improve himself.
Congratulations Marcel and keep up the good work.

Development 3
Jade Buchanan
I chose Jade Buchanan as the swimmer of the month for
Development 3 for January. Her attendance is 100% so far for 2008.
Jade is showing much more focus in workouts and is always eager to
lead her lane. At the York Junior Quadathalon Jade swam all of the
hardest events including the 100FR, 100BK, 100BR and 100IM. At
our upcoming swim meets, Jade is continuing to challenge herself by
selecting the hardest events to swim.
Awesome job Jade!
