Tri Nations Cup Meet-another successful meet

Matthew Swanston 2007-2008

Matthew Swanston is in Quebec City this weekend as part of the Senior National Team that is representing Canada at a tri-meet against France and Great Britain.  The meet begins on Friday August 1st and ends on Saturday Aug.  2nd.  To watch the races live,  click on results  Then click on Tri Nations Cup, and then Photo and Video for the live webcast.  Results can be found here. The meet will run from 3:00 to 5:00pm on both Friday and Saturday.

  On Friday, Matthew swam the 100 backstroke, finishing 4th in 56.34, only 4/100′s off what he went at the World Junior Championships. He also swam the 4 x 200 freestyle relay which won the silver medal.  His split was a very fast 1:50.84  He also swam on the 4 x 50 freestyle relay which broke the Senior National record!! 

 On Saturday,Matthew swam the  4 x 100 freestyle relay, splitting 51.1, and helping Canada to a bronze medal.

Matthew was selected from his performances at the Olympic Trials this past April.

Hosted in Quebec City, this inaugural competition will showcase Canada’s 2012 Olympic potential hopefuls. Our swimmers will be competing against athletes from Great Britain and France. The meet coincides with Quebec City’s 400th anniversary; North America’s oldest city and will be held August 1-2, 2008. Plans are to rotate host countries each year leading into London, England.
