March Swimmers of the Month!

April 21st, 2009 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News, Swimmer of the Month

Congratulations to the March 09 Swimmers of the Month!

National Senior/Senior

Graham Mitchell

Graham was at over 90% of the workouts during the short course season and in March his attendance was even higher. This combined with his hard work every day has helped him do best times in all events this year.

This March, at the Ontario Junior Championships in Nepean, Graham bettered his best time in 7 swims.

His best placing was in the 400 freestyle where he placed 6th overall and bettered his best time by over 12 seconds, making it an 18.8 second improvement in the event since last year.

Keep up the good work,

Alan Swanston

AG1 and AG2

Cameron Edling

His attendance for the month was 90%, and his attendance for the short course season was 97 %. Cameron is starting to mature as an athlete, and you can see that he is more and more committed towards his swimming. His training habits have really improved over the last few months.

At the Junior Provincial Championship in Nepean Ontario, Cameron had a great meet. He finished in the top sixteen in two events with personal best times in three events. In the 100 breast he was tied for eight after prelims and had to do a swim off. He had a great swim and won the swim off, and improved his time by 1.8 seconds.

Congratulations Cameron and keep up the good work.

Development 3

Madeleine Phantharangsy

The Swimmer of the month for March for the Development 3 group is Madeleine Phantharangsy.  She is a really hard worker; and is always trying her best.  At the Newmarket meet she swam 3 new events; 100Fr, 100Bk, 100Br.  She did amazing in all of them! In the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke she went under two minutes and her 100Br was just over 2:10! As well, she went a personal best in 50Bk by about 8s and in the 50Fr she swam a best time by 1 and a half seconds.  She attends almost every practice, and never complains.

Keep up the great work Madeleine!
