April Swimmers of the Month!

May 21st, 2009 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News, Swimmer of the Month

Congratulations to the April 09 Swimmers of the Month!

National Senior/Senior

Lindsay Seemann

Lindsay has been at well over 90% of the workouts this year and was at 100% of the workouts in April.

This year she raced well at many different meets. Among these meets were the Eastern Canadian Championships where she medaled in eight events over three days, the Ontario Junior Provincials where she won 6 of the maximum 7 events allowed, and the Senior National Championships where she swam a time of 1:58.22 in the 200 free qualifying her to go to the Australian Age Nationals.

This April Lindsay did go to Australia with the Canadian Youth team. It took over 30 hours of travel time to get there and they started racing just a couple of days later. She still had great results. She made finals in seven events and came away with three medals; two silvers and a bronze.

Keep up the good work Lindsay.

Alan Swanston

AG1 and AG2

Jake Silverthorn

April Swimmer of the Month honors goes to Jake Silverthorn. This is his first season with AG 1&2, since October Jake’s attendance has been great, he has not missed one workout in the last seven months. He has really shown that you can be committed both to school and swimming.

Jake is a very hard working athlete, during workouts you can see that he is working on improving his stroke technique and at the same time training at a very high intensity level. As a result he has done very well at the championship meets, and is now qualified for Ontario Junior and Senior Provincials and Canadian Age Group championship.

Congratulations Jake and keep up the good work.

Ulf Ornhjelm

AG3 and AG4

Justin Oliver

Attendance: Over 90% since start of the long course season.

Performance: Justin has dropped over one minute from his previous best times in meets so far this year.  Justin has had a significant growth spurt over the past few months and this gift, in combination with his always consistent hard work and great attitude in practice bode exceptionally well for even more significant drops in his best times in the near and distant future!

Keep up the great work Justin!

AG5

Logan Kershaw

Logan has had excellent attendance for the month of April, he is always on time for practice and eager to help set up when the pool is not quite ready. During the Pickering Rainbow Classic at the beginning of April Logan swam six personal best times, taking off a total of 34.24 seconds. During the meet Logan also attained two D time standards and three C time standards.

Congratulations Logan and keep up the great work!!

Amanda Burchert

Meghan Bernard

Meghan has had fantastic attendance for the month of April. She comes to practice smiling and ready to get in and work hard. During the Pickering Rainbow Classic Meghan competed in her first 400fr and placed tenth overall. She also swam four personal best times taking off a total of 41 seconds, 27.24 in the 100fly alone. During the meet Meghan also achieved her first E time standard.

Congratulations Meghan and keep up the great work!!

Development 3

Megan Sidor

The April Swimmer of the Month for the Development 3 group is Megan Sidor.  Megan is an amazing swimmer and while she is strong in all four strokes she excels at breaststroke.  She has a very high attendance record and she gives 100% at every single workout.  As well, she is a great listener and right after we speak with her we can see a change in her swimming, and it lasts as long as the workout does.  Megan is a leader in workouts, she always wants to lead the lane, and she never complains about what we are doing.

Keep up the great work Megan!!
