Swine Flu Memo

May 1st, 2009 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News

Memo to: All parents

From: Steve Kingston

Date: May 1, 2009

Subject: Swine Flu

As you are all aware there has recently been an outbreak of the Swine Flu (H1N1 virus) in Mexico and cases have been reported elsewhere, including Canada and the United States. To date health care officials are not placing any restrictions on anyone returning from Mexico who is not showing any flu-like symptoms. Anyone returning from Mexico showing flu-like symptoms is being asked to self-isolate at home.

Your Board of Directors will continue to monitor this situation on a daily basis. We would ask that you all review with your children the importance of proper handwashing, not sharing water bottles etc. We would also remind you that if your child is experiencing any flu-like symptoms or is not feeling well they should not be sent to workouts or meets.

Our Team Travel Director is working with the chaperones to implement additional precautions for the upcoming London meet. Hand washing stations will be set up at all buffets and the swimmers will wash with antibacterial handwash before proceeding through the lines. Any swimmers developing flu-like symptoms after leaving for London will be immediately isolated and their parents will be contacted to come and pick them up and take them home.

As always the health and safety of the swimmers and coaches is a priority. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
