    Food for Thought

Keep away from people who try to belittle you ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.

May Swimmers of the Month!

June 30th, 2009 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News, Swimmer of the Month

Congratulations to the May 2009 Swimmers of the Month!

National Senior/Senior

Danny Seemann

The May Swimmer of the Month for the National Senior and Senior groups is Danny Seemann. This year is Danny’s last year with the Stingrays. Over the more than ten years he was been with the club he worked very hard and was very focused at workouts. His attendance was exemplary through the entire time, with almost every month at 100 %. This is why Danny became not only a Junior Provincial qualifier but also an Age Group Nationals qualifier.

Danny, I am very proud of you and will miss you at workouts in the future.

I think there are many great things ahead for you and I wish you all the best.

AG1 and AG2

Kyle Mighton

Kyle Mighton had perfect attendance for the month of May. Since the March break Kyle has improved his training habits and he is now more focused each training session. At the meet in London his improved training habits really paid off and he had a great meet. I am especially thinking about the 1500 free that he swam for the first time, not only did he have the fastest time for boys 14 years of age he also qualified for Canadian Age Group Championship. Great job and keep up the good work.

AG3 and AG4

Dylan Cook

Attendance: Over 90% since March

Performance: May Newmarket Invitational

Dylan had an absolutely outstanding group of performances at the Newmarket Invitational!  In his 5 events at the meet he dropped over 20 seconds from his previous best times!  This decimation of his previous best times includes an eight second drop in his 100 Br and a six second drop in his 100 Bk! This bumps the amount of time he has dropped, from between his first meets with the Stingrays this year until now, to over two minutes!  It is rewarding to see the joy and enthusiasm such great swims elicit, especially from swimmers who have worked so hard right from the outset of the year.  Great work Dylan!  Keep it up!

Development 3

Jenica Whitla

The Development 3 Swimmer of the Month for May is Jenica Whitla. Jenica is a great swimmer; she is always trying her best, and has fun doing it. In practice she always listens when a coach is speaking, and does her best to apply the advice we give her.  She has improved a ton in all four strokes, as well, as in her turns and dives. You can really see the results of her training in the swim meets, where she usually gets many best times. She also has a great attendance record;  she is at over 95% of the practices and is always on time. Keep up the great work Jenica!
