    Food for Thought

The duration of an athletic event is only but a few moments, while the training for it may take months of arduous work and continuous exercise of self efforts. The real value of sport is not the game played in the limelight of the applause, but the hours of dogged determination and self discipline carried out alone imposed and supervised by an exacting conscience.
    The applause soon dies away.

Ontario Youth Team to Portland, Oregon-a medal for Sarah!

December 11th, 2009 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News

Sarah Mclean will be coming home with a bronze medal , as she swam the third leg of Team Ontario’s 4 x200 freestyle relay, which finished third.

Individually, Sarah finished 9th in the prelims of the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.53, and then in the B final went on to finish 15th overall in a time of 26.54.  This is a very good achievement for Sarah, since the age group at this meet is 18 & under, and Sarah is only 14.

Sarah also swam the 100 freestyle ( 58.42) the 200 backstroke ( 2:24.21) and the 200 freestyle (2:09.64), and led of Swim Ontario’s B 4 x 100 freestyle relay in a time of 57.78.
