January Swimmers of the Month !
Congratulations to the January, 2010 Swimmers of the Month:
National Senior/Senior
Lindsay Seemann
Lindsay Seemann is the NS & SR swimmer of the month for January. Lindsay is the type of person who, for years, is always at workout. She is always focused on improving her stroke technique and working hard. She not only leads by example, but she can also be heard encouraging her team mates.
This past January, Lindsay went to Australia to compete at the New South Wales State Championships. At the meet Lindsay not only won all 6 of the events that she entered, but also broke the Ontario Age Group record (15 to 17 years) as well as the Senior Ontario record in the 400 freestyle. The coaches at the meet told me that she was a real leader on the team. Upon return she was named Ontario’s Swimmer of the Month for January.
Well done Lindsay.

Jake Silverthorn
Swimmer of the month honours go to Jake Silverthorn. Since September Jake has maintained an attendance record over 90%, and at the moment it is 95%. He has also trained very well I am specially thinking of his training intensity at every workout that is always great.
At the A-B meet in Etobicoke all the hard work paid off and he had a great meet. He had a best time in the 200 fly and won the event. In the 1500 free he improved his time by twenty eight seconds and finished second, he also finished second in the 400 free, 400 IM, 200 free, 200IM, and third in the 100 fly.
Congratulations Jake and keep up the good work.

AG3 and AG4
Ainslee Caughell
January’s AG3/4 swimmer of the month honours go to Ainslee Caughell. Ainslee has been recognized for her outstanding performances at the Etobicoke AB meet, including her first Junior Provincial Championship qualifying time. The meet is sometimes referred to, in my groups, as the “tough as nails†meet for this is the meet where the swimmers are given the opportunity to swim back to back events; all of them. This meet provides the swimmers with a great opportunity to not only learn valuable focusing skills but also to put their training on the line and test their endurance levels. In the 11 events over the two days Ainslee demolished her previous best times by just about 90 seconds and managed to pull off a Junior Provincial Qualifying time in the middle of it all! Ainslee has been a very dedicated athlete this year, not only ensuring that she is at every workout (attendance is at 100% for the year!) but also maintaining great eating, sleeping and studying habits.
Keep up the great work Ainslee.

Tiana Sortino
Tiana Sortino is Development 3’s January swimmer of the month. She has been working very hard since September. Tiana has shown great improvement in her technique because of her determination to work hard. She has been working on her dives and endurance. Tiana is able to swim more metres at every practice. Her dives have also improved tremendously. Tiana is always respectful to the coaches and listens when asked. Every day she comes to the pool with a smile and a positive attitude. Tiana performed with great technique at the York Junior Quadathlon.
