August 8th, 2010 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News

The Canadian National Senior “B” team raced at the Nations Cup on Aug. 5 & 6th in Victoria, BC.   This was a quad meet between Canada, Brazil, France and Australia.  Canada won the meet, beating Australia by 10 points, after trailing at the end of day one.  The Canadian team was heavily supported by the cheering of the Canadian Pan Pac team which was still in Victoria training, prior to heading to California.

Newmarket Stingray’s Jeffrey Swanston (age 16), representing Team Canada, finished  3rd in the 200 backstroke ( 2:05.10), for his first podium finish in international competition.  Jeffrey also finished sixth in the 100 backstroke in a personal best time of 57.74, and led off Canada’s B medley relay, which finished 5th.

Jeffrey is now training in Vancouver, preparing for the Jr. Pan Pacific Championships which are in Hawaii  beginning on Aug. 26th.

Also representing Canada at the Nations Cup was Stingray’s Michael Zoldos, age 20,  who finished 7th in the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:02.19

Congratulations Jeffrey and Michael!
