December Swimmers of the Month!

February 10th, 2011 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News, Swimmer of the Month

Congratulations to the December 2010 Swimmers of the Month:

National Senior/Senior

Selin Ozturk

Selin Ozturk is the NS & SR swimmer of the month for December.

Selin has been to 90% of the workouts this year and in December she attended 100% of the time.

Selin swam at four important meets on four consecutive weekends this November/December. They were the Canada Cup, and Youth Cup in Toronto, the Paul Bergen meet in Portland Oregon and the Montreal Invitational meet. At all four meets she swam personal best times. That’s quite an accomplishment. At Canada Cup she swam 7 best times, at Youth Cup 3, at Paul Bergen 6 and in Montreal 8. Throughout these four weekends Selin swam faster than a Senior National standard eleven times.

Congratulations Selin.  That was great swimming,

Alan Swanston

  AG1 and AG2

Joo Sub Lee

His attendance for the month was 100%, and that was the third month in a row he had perfect attendance, and he has only missed one workout since September.

At the Montreal meet he had 6 personal best times, and he made the final in every event he swam. In the 50 free he had a great race and improved his time by 0.9 second and finished second.

Joo Sub Lee has really improved his training this season, and you can see how determined he is to have a great season.

Congratulations and keep up the good work.

 Ulf Ornhjelm

AG3 and AG4

Mackenna Armitage

December 2010 Swimmer of the month honours go to Mackenna Armitage in the AG4 group. Mackenna not only has impeccable workout attendance (when her family doesn’t kidnap her and force her to go on vacation) but at workout she can be counted on to know exactly what the set is that the group is doing, what is expected of them on that set and exactly where they are within that set at all times. She consistently puts her best effort into workouts and works diligently at stroke and turn corrections. Her hard work and focus have already started to bring her fabulous results. Not only did she earn her way to qualifying for the Montreal meet, but, she did an amazing job once she got there! Mackenna earned her first “C” time as an eleven year old in the 200 Br after taking off 21 seconds at the meet! Her first ever 200 Bk earned her a “D” time, as did her 10 second drop in the 200 Free and 1 second drop in her 50 Free!  These great results are just the beginning!

Keep up the awesome work Mackenna!

 AG5

Madeline Coulter

The December swimmer of the month for AG5 is Maddie Coulter. When Maddie first join my group, she would not say ‘boo to a ghost’. She has now opened up and is a great addition to AG5.  Her positive attitude and great work ethic has contributed to her progression so far this season.  Qualifying for six events at Central Region Championships is proof of this.

Great job, Maddie, keep it up.

Development 1 and Development 2

Hannah Kiernan

The December swimmer of the month for DEV 1/2 is Hannah Kiernan. Hannah has an over 95% attendance for the season so for.  She comes to practice with an attitude of wanting to get better.  As a coach it is gratifying to see her on deck at practice, ready and willing to do a great job.

Good work, Hannah, keep it up.

   Development 3

Tristan Hough

The swimmer of the month for December is presented to Tristan Hough.  During this month he has come to practice with a smile, ready and willing to go. He has focused on improving his strokes and endurance, and I am sure this will continue for the rest of the swim season! I am excited to watch him in the swim meets to come.

Keep up the excellent swimming, congratulations Tristan!!
