M. Swanston 3rd behind Phelps at Grand Prix meet
Matthew Swanston, representing the Newmarket Stingrays, finished a successful weekend of racing at the Santa Clara Grand Prix, which was held in Santa Clara, California from June 16-19th. This meet attracted world class swimmers from all over the world, and was the last stop on this season’s Grand Prix circuit.
Matthew finished 3rd in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:00.54. The event was won by Michael Phelps.
The event was webcast live on Universal Sports Network. Matthew also swam the 100 backstroke, finishing 6th. Finishing 2nd in that event was 3 time Olympic Gold medalist Ryan Lochte.
