May Swimmers of the Month !

July 18th, 2011 | Stingray Office Manager | Stingray News, Swimmer of the Month

Congratulations to the May, 2011 Swimmers of the Month:

National Senior/Senior

Megan Barrack

Megan Barrack is the NS & SR swimmer of the month for May.

Megan has had a very good year this year. She swam best times in all events that she swam due to her hard work and close to 100% attendance.  This May Megan competed at the Hollandia meet in London where she swam very well. She produced best times in all 7 events finishing in the top 8 in six of these events and reaching the top of the podium in the 1500 freestyle.Later this summer Megan will continue to represent the Stingrays at both the Ontario Junior Championships, to be held in Etobicoke, as well as the Canadian Age Group Championships that will be held in Montreal.
I know Megan will continue to train hard and race fast this summer.

 Keep up the good work,

Alan Swanston

AG1 and AG2

Gavin Coward

Gavin Coward had perfect attendance for the month of May. Since the March break Gavin has improved his training habits and he is now more focused each training session. At the Newmarket meet his improved training habits really paid off and he had a great meet. Gavin had five personal best times, and he finished first in the 200 free, 100 free, 50 back, 200 back, and in the 50 free Dash for Cash.

Congratulations Gavin and keep up the good work.

 Ulf Ornhjelm

AG3 and AG4

Danica Garbett

Swimmer of the month honours for May go to Danica Garbett. In the month of May Danica raced her way to outstanding results at both the Hollandia meet in London and at our own meet here in town. Her Long course best time improvement, at the Hollandia meet, approached the 2 minute mark, with her biggest improvement being an almost 40 second drop in her 400 Free. At the Newmarket meet Danica raced her short course times down yet again in 4 races, to cap off a year of consistent improvements! All year Danica has maintained an excellent attendance record, of well over 90%, and can always be counted on to put forth her best effort in both her races and in workouts.

Great work Danica!  Lets see how fast you can finish out the year!

AG5

David Oliker

The AG5 swimmer of the month for May is David Oliker. David had an attendance of above 95% for the month. After we returned from the London meet, the level of training increased in readiness for the LC championship season. David seemed to embrace the the workouts with real enthusiasm. His times at the Newmarket meet reflected the effort.

Well done David, keep it up.

Congratulations Jenica, great job.

Development 3

Fergus Park

The swimmer of the month for May goes to Fergus Park. He has done a fantastic job all year. He continually came to practice ready to go and always put in 100% effort!  At That’s A Wrap swim meet, he had many best times and I saw many improvements in all strokes. He sure has improved and May was his month to shine.

Congratulations Fergus!
