Jake Silverthorn
The June Swimmer of the Month for the National Senior and Senior groups is Jake Silverthorn.
This June, at the Etobicoke AGI meet, Jake swam a time of 16:31.75 in the 1500 free, qualifying him for the Senior National Championships. He dropped his best time, which he had done earlier this year, by 15 seconds, eclipsing the standard by 6 seconds.Later in the summer Jake again dropped his time again by another 2.41 seconds to place fourth at the Canadian Age Group Championships.Jake was able to accomplish this through great attendance (95%) and through hard work and concentration.
Keep up the great work Jake,
Alan Swanston
AG1 and AG2
Dylan Cook
His attendance for the month was 96%, and the entire season Dylan’s attendance has been very good.At the Age Group International meet in Etobicoke he had a great swim in the 200 breaststroke, and improved his personal best time by 6 seconds.Dylan has really improved his training habits since the beginning of the season, and it paid off with some great performances at the end of the season.

AG3 and AG4
Nicholas Wright
June swimmer of the month honours in the AG3 and AG4 group go to Nicholas Wright. All year Nicholas has been training very diligently and maintaining excellent attendance. Over the course of the year Nicholas has made significant improvements in his short course best times. In June, Nicholas smashed through his previous best times at the Central Region Long Course Championships and swam his way to new best times in all 6 of his events, and 3 of those new best times were even faster than his short course best times! In the 200m Free Nicholas not only swam faster than his short course best time, and placed second in the event but, he also qualified for the Ontario Junior Provincials in that event! Awesome work all year Nicholas!
Congratulations!

AG5
Jade Buchanan
The June swimmer of the month for AG5 is Jade Buchanan. Jade entered the month of June (Championship Season) not really knowing what her goals were. She got to ‘B’ Champs with conflicting interests happening on the same weekend. She ultimately chose to swim on the Sunday of the meet, and swam her best race of the year. She just missed Provincials, but took over 8 second off her best time in the 200 FR.
Great job, Jade. Keep it up next year with Caroline.

Development 1 and Development 2
Samara Aabo
The June swimmer of the month for DEV 1/2 is Samara Aabo. Samara has an over 95% attendance for the season. She comes to practice with a big smile on her face, eager to do a good job. Samara’s improvement this year can be attributed to her attitude at workout. As a coach it is exciting to work with swimmers who clearly enjoy what they are doing.
Good work, Samara, see you next season.

Development 3
Allan Zhang
The swimmer of the month for June was Allan Zang. With only just being a part of the club for a few months, Allan has come so far so fast! All of his strokes have greatly improved in such a short time. Already he doesn’t forget to do flip turns with freestyle and backstroke and pullouts for breaststroke!
Keep up the excellent swimming, and have a great summer!

July 2011 Swimmers of the Month
National Senior/Senior
Michael Karnakov
The July Swimmer of the Month for the National Senior and Senior groups is Michael Karnakov. This July, he had a great meet at the Canada Cup meet in Montreal. Michael swam seven events and did a personal best time in 6. His biggest improvement came in the 800 free where he improved by 37.5 seconds to a time of 8:40.4, and in doing so qualified for the Senior National Championship. Later in the month Michael qualified in a second event for Senior Nationals; the 50 fly. Now his best time in the 50 fly is 25.75 from the Canadian Age Group Championships where he finished 6th. Michael always comes to workout with a positive attitude and a great work ethic. These attributes have contributed to the success that he has had this year.
Good swimming Michael,
Alan Swanston

Known for her breaststroke ability she has also had great success in other events in the last few months. At the Junior Provincial Championship in Etobicoke Alyssa had a great meet with personal best times in every event she swam. She finished 4th in the 100 breast, and 5th in the 200 breast. Three weeks later in Montreal at the Canadian Age Group Championship she improved her times again. AG3 and AG4
Joey Shalovsky
AG3 and AG4 swimmer of the month honours go to Joey Shalovsky. In July Joey had what I would consider a stellar breakthrough competition at the Ontario Junior Provincial Championships in Etobicoke. In his five individual events Joey came away with five new personal bests for a combined total of over 16 seconds off of his previous personal bests. His weekend of inspired racing also netted him an 8th place finish in the 100m Back and a Silver medal in the 50m Back. If he is able to recreate this racing enthusiasm combined with his always excellent attendance Joey will be smashing his personal bests and the competition handily in the years ahead!
Congratulations Joey
