Our Goals
THE PURPOSE OF FUNDRAISING AND HOW TO EARN BACK YOUR COMMITMENT DEPOSIT
The Newmarket Stingrays Swim Club is a not-for-profit organization. The Club’s operating costs are paid with the annual membership fees and the profits from fundraising. Note: A copy of the Club’s audited financial statements is provided to every member in attendance at the Annual General Meeting. If you would like a copy please contact the office.
With the exception of Splash swimmers, each Stingray swimmer pays a fundraising commitment deposit as part of their annual membership fees. You have an opportunity to earn back your deposit by participating in the Club’s various ‘earn-back’ fundraising activities.
For each ‘earn-back’ fundraising activity, you and the Club share in the profits: 75% of the profit is credited to your account until you reach your fundraising commitment amount. Once your commitment is reached, you earn 50% of your profit as a credit towards your registration fees for next year. The Club uses its share of the profits (25% and then 50%) to pay for operations expenses such as pool rental.
For the 2008-2009 season, our club will participate in the monthly SHOP & EARN program and various other fundraising campaigns.
Both types of fundraising activities are essential to keep our membership fees as low as possible. Over the past few years, the cost of pool rental has escalated greatly. Fundraising assists the Club to pay for those increased costs and helps to maintain reasonable registration/membership fees.
If we all work together we can keep fees from increasing by participating in fundraising opportunities. Thank you for your support!
