2023 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships Recap

Newmarket Stingrays

Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated at the Ontario Swimming Championships.  Fifteen swimmers represented the Stingrays at the highest level provincial event.  Eighty-one clubs attended the championships and our team finished in 20th position.  We had many personal best times, multiple finals, 2 podium performances, as well as 4 new national level qualifications.  Below is a summary of our swimmer’s outstanding achievements:

Eunice Cheung (15)

  • 100m Fly – 2nd   Canadian Swimming Championships

Matteo Mancini (14)

  • 200m Breaststroke – 7th

Robert Rusu (14)

  • 100m Backstroke – 4th

Claire Thorne (14)

  • 400m Freestyle – 4th  Eastern Canadian Championships
  • 100m Fly -5th  Eastern Canadian Championships
  • 200m Fly – 4th  Eastern Canadian Championships

Taeden Miller (14)

  • 1500m Freestyle – 6th

Clarke Morrison (18)

  • 100m Backstroke – 2nd
  • 200 Backstroke -5th

Madison Russell (16)

  • 200m Breaststroke – 5th
  • 100m Breaststroke – 6th  2023 Canadian Junior Swimming Trials

Tony Hoalga (17)

  • 50m Freestyle - 8th
